Pos Malaysia, one of the local courier services is expecting on hitting 2 million parcels monthly by next year with Pos Laju SendParcel.
The group chief executive officer Syed Md Najib Syed Md Noor said Pos Laju SendParcel was launched over a year ago to support the changing trend of consumers going from retail stores to online shopping.
He reported that Pos Malaysia courier business is a key segment that generates sustainable revenue for the company. However, the problem then was they were still conducting business the conventional way – where customers need to walk into Pos Laju outlets to send the parcels. Whereas, other businesses were online, it required a drastic turnaround by adapting to online platform due to the high demand from customers.
Pos Laju SendParcel was launched in 2019 and it has over 86,000 registered users
Pos Laju SendParcel has a number of over 86,000 registered users within a year. They shipped more than 3.3 million parcels in total and successfully generated RM 21.7 million in revenue. Pos Malaysia aims to achieve a revenue of RM 30 million by end of 2020 and it looks promising due to the increased of online shoppers.
The demand increased rapidly during the MCO period
The establishment of the online shipping platform really help Pos Malaysia and without it, they would not have survived the MCO period due to the Covid-19 pandemic. There were high demand for online shopping during that period and Pos Laju SendParcel provided the right platform to deliver customer purchases to their home addresses.
Syed Md Najib also said that Pos Malaysia went all out into its digitalisation and transformation plans to unlock value for its customers. The rapid adoption of technology has brought new challenges to Pos Malaysia business and they knew that they must adapt to digitalisation to remain relevant in the industry.
