As Malaysia moves towards a cashless society, all National Registration Department offices (JPN) nationwide have declared Wednesday as a “cashless day”, so all transaction make on every Wednesday are via cashless methods such as debit and credit cards, cheques and internet banking via FPX.
This is in conjunction with the ongoing National Level Cashless Payment Campaign 2020 (Kempen Pembayaran Tanpa Tunai Peringkat Nasional 2020).

The JPN said the recent practice has already been implemented at all its state offices and Urban Transformation Centres (UTC) nationwide. Individuals who visit the state capital and UTC offices of JPN are required to use cashless payments at the department on every Wednesday. This includes payment methods such as debit and credit cards, cheques, and internet banking.
Furthermore, JPN had already introduced the use of cashless payments in its state capital and UTC offices via the Payment service since 2018. They had started the cashless payments option in Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Terengganu. They also aim to expand the Payment service to all district and other smaller JPN branches nationwide by 2021.
To encourage the public to go cashless, JPN launched a campaign in collaboration between the Ministry of Finance and Payment Network Malaysia (PayNet) where customers who perform specific cashless transactions such as MyDebit, DirectDebit, JomPAY and FPX payments at participating government agencies will stand a chance to win attractive prizes. The contest will run until April 2021.
